Lately I've really been loving Lana Del Rey. I went YouTube surfing and found a bunch of her unreleased music... I listened to almost every single one and compiled my list of my faves. I now have 13 of her fairly unknown songs on repeat. Love, love love. So I don't know if you can tell but I felt a little bit of Lana Del Rey inspo for this look... originally I was thinking Born to Die but now I just can't decide. She does have a fun little song called You Can Be the Boss though so I thought that fitting :)

Also the Now and Zen 'Fest was super fun and seeing One Republic live was really amazing!!

This dress is stunning, just like the last one I wore from FeeLuxury (which is owned by Sheinside). Unfortunately, after wearing it once, the zipper on the back stopped working. I am so sad! You probably cannot tell, but the brocade layer is partly sheer and tops the blue (almost metallic shine) dress beneath. I actually think this may be the first item in my closet with brocade on it, and what I think is amazing (full history lesson) is that it dates back to the Middle Ages when only nobility wore it. One of the countries it was very popular in was a place called Byzantium. Actually I read a book when I was much younger called Anna of Byzantium, and I really loved the atmosphere and how the style of dressing was described. 

Today I am actually going to a concert in SF! I am not a big concert person (large crowds and lots of standing) but I think it is going to be great. My sister Irene actually was the one who suggested going, perhaps those of you in the bay have heard of Alice's Now and Zen Annual 'Fest? Well anyways I'll be shooting my look while there so if you're in town look for a girl in camo pants! xoxo

I'm not sure if you can tell, but I really love wearing blue. Cobalt blue, specifically. (Purple is my favorite color but I don't usually wear it!) This shirt is great of course, aside from the color, as the cut/style can really go with anything! And I do mean you can wear anything as you can wear it to breakfast/lunch/dinner - beach/work/friends get together with classic shorts/pants/ripped shorts/mini/ denim, etc!! In this instance I paired it with a classic black pant from Spiegel with a tapered leg for a polished and professional look. Add some gold touches to spice it up and you're done. Simple look but I do believe simple is better. :)

Just a fun, everyday look for you guys! Although I (tsk tsk) didn't pay attention to the 33" measurement on the Savous site, I think the length is just lovely. I was a bit warm for the California weather but if anything you could bring along a heavier cardi depending on your climate since this dress is perfect for layering. 

Speaking of weather, we had a random bout of rain the other day, almost as if Mother Nature was saying, hey fall is officially here! But it went straight back to 73 degrees Fahrenheit and clear skies almost immediately. I sometimes wish the weather would completely reverse every week so I could wear boots and a coat one day then a tank and shorts the next. Then again we'd all be stuck complaining about closet space because no, that winter stuff is never going to storage! ;)

Sometimes you just want to go head to toe glamorous and not surprisingly, a softly shimmering sky blue maxi with a high slit can do that for you :) (The skirt color is called teal by the way, but it's definitely blue.) I actually was hugely inspired by Kim Kardashian on this one, since the whole concept of That Famous Look is that their items are similar to the pieces celebrities wear. I don't follow celebrity fashion closely myself but there was a picture of Kim wearing the same style skirt on the site. 

As usual, I somehow picked the windiest day to wear and shoot this skirt. We ended up taking twice as many photos and spending twice as much time shooting. I'm really thankful my sister (also my photographer) is so patient :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend :) Now it's back to the grind and while you guys might not be used to seeing work-friendly looks on my blog, that doesn't mean I don't love this style of attire! I'm not an office girl anymore but I know how easy it is to feel like you're swimming in a sea of black, white and tan staples.

What I hope to show you here is that it is easy to change up your look with subtle touches like unique tailoring (pleating), metallic pieces or seasonal colors. (Or even statement jewelry though I didn't include any.) And for the start of fall, what a great excuse to re-introduce some lovely autumn shades to your looks, like olive and maroon!

For the Lookbook.nu x Loft: Pant Revolution collaboration I styled the Marisa Trouser in custom stretch (size 00) — and I know a good pair of pants when I see them. These hit at my favorite spot on my waist and are also somehow the perfect length when paired with the average 4 inch heel in my closet. The fit is firm but stretchy and they don't wrinkle easily at all. They have them in other colors too but really I love this unexpected and very subtle dark wine shade :)
