Honestly this coat is so fun and of course it's faux too! It kept me really warm in the crazy cold winds that suddenly picked up yesterday. This is a standout outfit even though I paired the look with jeans to tone it down. You can use this coat to punch up really just anything! 

Happy New Year to those of you that are ahead of us Californian's!!! I, however, will be partying it up tonight! I don't drink but you can bet I will have some of that sparkling cider!

I'm going to get the skirt tailored so there is a slit in the back. That way it will be easier to walk :)

I meant for this post to go up Christmas Day but alas we all know plans don't always go as planned... especially during the holidays! Speaking of which I hope everyone had a great one! Now of course it's the weekend so perhaps you are all recovering! And in just four quick days it will be New Year's Eve!  Speaking of which... I always have a hard time deciding what to do for New Year's Eve. What are you guys doing? 

This is just your typical white shirt and jeans combo with a cool jacket and edgy boots thrown on to give the look a little more impact. Oh yeah that and it's cold! As you can tell it was off and on rainy/sunny all day, even during our 15 minute shoot! I decided these boots don't actually keep my feet warm. I didn't notice the first few times but after shooting this look I finally realized my toes were cold!

Here is part 2 in the holiday hair series with TRESemmé!



I am using the same products as last time, not including the hair embellishments :)



I used the TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Mousse to prep my hair to give it some extra volume before styling. (If you need a quick refresher, I recommend the TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo on your roots before styling) Measure a section of hair on each side, making sure it's even. Section off one part and begin braiding the other.



Pull it taut and this is what the finished braid should look like. Fluff up the braids on both sides.



Pull it over and pin it in place.



Do the same on the other side and pin it into the first braid. To finish off my look, make sure to mist on the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray for added shine!


Congrats you are done! This is what it will look like from the side.



This is the finished look. You can spray some shine spray or hairspray depending on if you feel like it needs a little extra touch!

I like to do this hairstyle whenever I feel a little more bohemian, which needless to say isn't that often, but surely at least 3 times a year :) I have yet to shoot a look with it on the blog but rest assured you will see some soon. By the way - braids look best on multi-dimensional hair, so I'm happy I have a light ombre but am still excited to see how my braids look come spring/summer since I'll definitely be going lighter.

Today I have Part 1 in a special 2 Part Hair series with TRESsemmé! Of course it is the holiday season and so I thought it the perfect time to grab some Christmas decorations and embellish my hair! You can omit the decor but I encourage everyone to try doing something creative with their hair! I know I don't do it enough (if ever) but when I do, I really love it!
 

For this style, I’m turning to TRESemmé for some of my favorite styling products that will help style and hold this look throughout any holiday party or occasion .  The TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Mousse really gives me amazing volume but combined with the TRESemmé Fresh Start Renewing Dry shampoo which helps to absorb excess oil from my roots, the grip was perfect. 



You can find these kinds of decorations in the wreath section at stores like Michael's (art stores). Have fun with it!
 

Begin with an ample amount of TRESemmé 24 hr Hour Body Mousse and run it throughout your hair to build additional volume before styling. (You may have to blow dry your hair afterwards to give it extra grip and texture.)



To start, I always like to curl my hair with about 1 inch sections. I'm using my Bombay Hair curling wand. 



For the hair-do - separate a chunk of hair in the front and put the rest in a pony. Use a tiny non-slip hair tie.
 

Flip the pony up and through the center of the hair. Pull it through so it looks like this.
 

Start Dutch braiding a part of the hair your first sectioned off. Leave the bangs or face framing layers. 



Loosen the braid for a thicker look. This is called "pancaking."



Tuck the braid through the center of the inside out pony. Finish it all with some of the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray. Adorn the hair with flowers and wreath beads however you feel like embellishing your hair!

You guys have NO idea how happy I get when the sun is shining at the same time I want to shoot. Actually yesterday was nearly clear skies all day and it was a wonderful thing... seeing as we have had mostly rain and/or clouds for the last month. I know, I know, cry me a river right? I know the rest of the country has been going through an Arctic Blast so I have no right to complain but that's the Cali girl in me :)

I'm going to try very hard to stop mixing red, black and white together. I think I do it too much and I should get a little creative. So of course this look kind of threw itself together and I think a top with a cut out in the back like mine is a sweet way to show a little skin in the winter.
